The municipalities of Jaca and Canfranc have signed a collaboration agreement to jointly host the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships “Canfranc-Pirineos,” taking place from September 24 to 28. The event will welcome 1,700 athletes from 80 countries, marking a major milestone for both towns and the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the agreement, the City of Jaca will provide both material and human resources to support Canfranc in delivering the extensive logistics required for an event of this scale. Notably, Jaca\u2019s Congress Palace will serve as the accreditation and bib collection center. In addition, the city will allow World Championship advertising on its streetlamps and will assign a specialist from its Sports Department to assist in organizing the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a global event taking place in our territory. Jaca is already experienced in hosting major international competitions, so we\u2019re very pleased to support Canfranc in this endeavor,\u201d said Jaca\u2019s Mayor, Carlos Serrano. \u201cFor us, the scale and significance of such sporting events go beyond political matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Canfranc\u2019s Mayor, Fernando S\u00e1nchez, expressed his gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing that \u201cJaca will be one of the key hubs of the World Championships.\u201d He also highlighted the strategic importance of the agreement in terms of sharing facilities and staff. All participating athletes will be accommodated in hotels across Jaca, further underscoring the positive economic impact the event will generate, not only in Canfranc but throughout the wider area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
